About Me and My Blog

I am a simply a lay person who likes to think, read, listen, talk and write about the Bible and related topics. In particular, I enjoy teaching, apologetics and evangelism. I believe in the inerrancy of Scripture, the 5 solas of the Protestant Reformation, the Doctrines of Grace, the cessation of the charismatic gifts, and that Jesus will come again to judge both the living and the dead (I lean toward amillenialism but, quite frankly eschatology has never been a big interest of mine). I have a wonderful, beautiful, talented and supportive wife, 5 children and 1 grandchild.

If you enjoy this blog, great. If not, that is fine too. I hope it at least helps us both think more clearly about our faiths.

Why The King’s Dale?

Because it is from the Bible, of course! My name “dale” appears twice in the King James Version (Genesis 14:17 and 2 Samuel 18:18). Both times it is part of the phrase “the king’s dale” meaning “the valley of the king.” Twisting that a bit, it reminds me that I am not my own, but rather the possession of my King, the Lord Jesus Christ, who bought me with his own precious blood.

For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s (Romans 14:8).

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body (1 Cor 6:19-20).

Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood (Act 20:28).

So, yes, I read my desired meaning into the text of the Bible just like I tell everyone else not to! But, basically I simply thought it sounded like a good title for my blog.

Scripture References

Unless I note otherwise in a post, my Scripture references will generally come from the The Holy Bible, English Standard Version, copyright 2001 by Crossway Bibles, a division of Good News Publishers.

  1. Thank you for reminding me at this moment of these verses, which I’d forgotten. May the Lord direct you in all you do!
