Shocking as it sounds, the most heinous act of evil and injustice ever perpetrated on the earth—the murder of the Son of God—took place according to God’s gracious and predetermined will. Psalm 139:16: “Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there were none of them.” (Kevin DeYoung, Just Do Something, L. 156).
Peter confirmed that the crucifixion was God’s will:
But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled (Acts 3:18).
God’s plan. God’s will. God’s fulfillment. God’s glory. Our redemption.
How many times can you think about that and not be amazed? 10,000 years from now I will still be amazed.
